The American Board of Optometry announced yesterday that the scores from the first ABO Board Certification Examination, June 1-18, 2011, were mailed to examinees on August 16! If you took the June exam and did not receive the email announcing this mailing, please contact the ABO regarding Diplomate certificates. 

The next exam administration is November 28-December 11, 2011. Registration opens September 2

The Initial Application Registration on the ABO website is simple and quick. Make sure you take note of the statement at the top of the page before you begin filling out the form. 

"Please use Internet Explorer, version 7 or higher or the latest version of Mozilla Firefox as your internet browser to fill out the ABO Initial Application Registration form below."

When you come to the end of the application and need to provide a user name and password you will be glad you did. For some reason, the application does not work well with Safari but you won't know it until you get to the end of the application.

Also, be sure to follow the specific instructions for your password. You need to have at least 1 capital letter and at least 1 "special character".  Again, for some reason, the @, #, $, and % work best.
