Judge Rules in Favor of American Board of Optometry

Summary judgment would dispose of all claims in AOS v. ABO lawsuit

ST. LOUIS, Mo., June 24, 2011 ― The U.S. District Court, Central District of California, has granted the American Board of Optometry’s (ABO) motion for summary judgment in the case of American Optometric Society, Inc. v. American Board of Optometry, Inc. If the Court denies the American Optometric Society’s motion for reconsideration, the Court is expected to enter a final Judgment in favor of the ABO and against the AOS on all claims and causes of action asserted in this lawsuit.

“The American Board of Optometry is pleased that the judge has granted our motion for summary judgment,” said ABO Chairman of the Board David A. Cockrell, O.D.

Fried Day Quizbillies

(Sung to the tune of "The Beverly Hillbillies")

Now listen, here's a story
About an exotrope named Jed
His eye was down and out
Pupil fixed and dilated
And then on a Friday
Yellow eyes at 6:02
Said his eye was running water
And it seemed all full of goo

Mucus, that is
Sticky stuff, papillae

He said that he was broke
And he didn't have a car
He had to hitch his rides
from a seedy local bar
Didn't take his medicine
Now he's got a bad 3rd nerve
Had to close his eye
when he walks
Still has to lean and has to swerve

Weave that is
Corpora quadrigemimii

His lid was thick and low
His pupil unresponsive
A grade 4 APD OD
Is what he presented
Vision wasn't great
Refraction wasn't bad
Poor perfusion to the midbrain
Is what I think he had

Low blood flow
3rd nerve nuclei

Well the first thing ya know
He was in a moving car
Off to get a MRI
And not the seedy local bar
And when he got there
His pulse was 102
Didn't have a fever
BP? 1-9-0/ 1-6-2

Aneurysm that is
Saccular, berry style

The neurosurgery
Was really done in style
But then they seemed to notice
He had problems with his bile
Got a look around
Neoplasia was the rule
A glassed in bile duct
Is not exactly cool

Bile salts
(Porphyrins?)

They said his pancreas
Was very nearly shot
And a malignant bile duct
Means he almost had to rot
Very sad and true
His death was rather crude
Don't smoke and drink and curse
And be careful with your food
